Mortgage professionals work for you, and not the banks; therefore, they work in your best interest. From the first consultation to the signing of your mortgage, their services are free. As brokers, we have access to all of the lenders that provide mortgages. This means we have access to and can quickly compare any of their products. Some products really are better than others. Take for instance the IRD penalty for breaking a mortgage earlier than its term. Most banks use it and so do mono line lenders, however, the mono line lenders can charge less than half. Brokers have no interest in banks profits and banks can not set any marketing/sales expectations on brokers. Brokers care about your financial benefits not the banks. In fact, brokers have to be licensed and abide by ethical standards set out by Financial Services Commission of Ontario, (fsco).
